EFG (EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTOR)

Epidermal growth factors are a family of several proteins naturally present in our body. They are a key component of the cell growth and regeneration process. On a daily basis, they are responsible for triggering the regeneration of microvascular networks and improving wound healing by initiating the synthesis of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

Epidermal growth factor (EGF) was discovered in the 1960s by Stanley Cohen and Rita Levi-Montalcini, which earned them the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1986. Only very recently (since less than 10 years) years), scientists are able to produce them in a safe and standardized way.

HOW DOES EGF WORK?

Growth factors are natural molecules that act as cellular messengers, transmitting instructions for growth, multiplication, mobility and regeneration to different types of cells. They are a fundamental element in the good maintenance of the skin and numerous studies guarantee excellent results in the healing process. Unfortunately, your concentration levels tend to decrease with age. This is why processes such as collagen destruction, which occurs naturally under the destructive effects of free radicals, are not repaired well in older people.

HOW IS EGF PRODUCED?

EGFs were first grown in yeast or human cells which were not ideal for technical reasons. In recent years, scientists have discovered methods to generate stable growth factors from harmless genetically modified cells or microorganisms, which is ideal from a health point of view. The hyaluronic acid found in many cosmetic creams is produced with a similar biotechnological process.

HOW CAN COSMETIC PRODUCTS WITH EGF BE BENEFICIAL FOR THE SKIN?

EGF considerably increases skin cell regeneration. More precisely, it will act directly on the skin cells to produce more collagen and elastin. Currently, it is the most powerful active ingredient known to induce such a stimulation and regeneration effect. This is why EGF treatments can reverse the signs of aging and restore collagen and other elements of the dermis to levels seen only in young people.

WHAT ARE THE VISIBLE EFFECTS OF EGF?

Results from multiple controlled clinical studies have shown that applying skin creams containing growth factors: Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles Stimulates collagen synthesis Improves the appearance of age spots Reduces pigmentation and irregularities of the skin Improves skin texture and elasticity.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF EGF COMPARED TO OTHER COSMETIC INGREDIENTS?

Due to its medical applications for twenty years and its use in medical (post-burn) creams, its safety of use has been studied more extensively than any other cosmetic ingredient.
